Sean Tyrrell comes from Galway where he exposed himself to experiences of different cultures, musical genres, and literary heritages while rubbing shoulders with a host of celebrated artists who performed there. He Immigrated to the US in 1968 and slotted into the club folk scene in New York and San Francisco where Sean built up a strong following and set up a band called Apples in Winter.
Sean returned to Ireland in the late seventies and continued to compose songs. In 1978 Sean was offered a job in the heart of the Burren in Co. Clare and it was not long before he was lured back into the music scene where Sean was invited to guest with a host of legendary musicians including ex Moving Hearts uileann piper Davy Spillane. Sean Tyrrell achieved one of his dreams when he set the poem The Midnight Court written by Brian Merriman in 17th Century to music. The traditional music opera was staged in the Druid Theatre Galway and featured Sean with a host of talented contemporaries. Following this he toured extensively in Ireland, England, the Continent and the USA.
In 1994 Sean Tyrrell released his first CD solo album Cry of a Dreamer which was greeted with great critical acclaim as was his second CD album The Orchard which he released in 1999. These albums were followed by extensive touring as larger audiences became exposed to Sean Tyrrells infectious songs and music.

The Midnight Court
Sometime in the latter part of the 18th century, Brian Merryman wrote a poem in Irish called 'Cuirt an Mhean Oiche'. After Frank O'Connor translated it into English in 1945, the work was banned by the British Censorship Board.
The launch date for Sean Tyrrell's new album The Walker Of The Snow is set for February 2011.
